Black stone flower is a soft brown and black coloured lichen that gives the signature black colour to various masalas like Goda masala or Kala masala. Its an edible lichen flora a type of fungus that grows on trees, rocks or stones. Hence its also called the Stone flower. A rare spice flower used in South Indian curry making.
